Overview
Approach to PsychotherapyOur approach to psychotherapy comes from an evidenced-based interpersonal and psychodynamic framework, meaning that we strongly emphasize our relationship and our active collaboration in helping you reach your goals.
We believe much of the benefit of psychotherapy comes from our building an open and honest relationship where we can develop a mutual understanding and clarification of your concerns. We work to create a safe and supportive environment where you can explore your conscious concerns and be challenged to consider difficulties or patterns that are normally out of your awareness. We believe that many of our daily struggles and anxieties are influenced by our constant attempts to balance our individual and identity needs with our relational needs, and psychotherapy can be an excellent place to discover, clarify, and attend to those needs. Psychotherapy can be short-term, directed, with a specific goal to improve one piece of your life. It can also be long-term, exploratory, with complex goals to improve relationships, increase meaning in your life, and cope with the constantly changing demands of being a person in a complex world. |
About our PracticeThe Louisville Psychotherapy Group was created to be a place where the study and practice of psychotherapy are closely connected. Our clinicians are engaged with current research and work to provide outstanding psychotherapy services to our clients. We also provide supervision and training to both students and clinicians looking for more advanced training.

What if I've tried therapy before? We are especially interested in working with people who have not been helped by previous mental health treatment, either psychotherapy or medication. We will work with you to understand the barriers and challenges with prior treatment and make recommendations about what additional treatment options may be available. Most problems are treatable and we can help identify an approach that will fit your needs.
